CRAFTY AIRCRAFT – June 14-18 or July 19-23
8-9 year old
From hot air balloons to gliders and rockets, every day will be a build challenge as you create a working model aircraft to take home. See how the inventors studied sciences that made their machines work, and how your model follows the same rules of flight. Just like the toys that inspired the Wright brothers!
PILOT MAKER – June 21-25, July 12-16 or August 2-6
10-12 years old
The T-6 Texan was called the “Pilot Maker” because it was the last training plane young pilots flew before taking on the WWII Warbird fighters and bombers. Follow flight school basic training as you learn the science that a pilot needs to know, how physics is used to control the aircraft, and the mechanics inside the planes. Practice simulator flying skills on the flight trainers, just like the pilots of World War II, then move on to pilot challenges and modern fighter jets. Finally, test your ace skills in simulated dogfights against your camp mates.
ACES AND LEGENDS – July 19-23 or August 9-13
10-12 years old
Take a close look at the planes and people that made history. The battles in the skies started with the race for dominant engineering to make the next bigger and faster aircraft design. Examine a different warbird each day up close to see how differences in technology meant life or death on the battlefield, and learn about the pilots and crew that relied on that machine to get the job done. Then hop in our networked flight simulators to recreate their missions with your fellow campmates making up a squadron to defend a bombing run, attack ground targets, and dogfight in the sky.
FLIGHT ENGINEERING – July 12-16
13-14 years old
Explore the roots and future of aeronautical engineering. From the development of historic planes to modern drones, learn the fundamentals of designing and building aircraft. Test the design of drones as you advance your speed and agility skills to compete in an obstacle course. Practice your fixed-wing piloting on our simulators as you progress through small aircraft on your way to fighter jets. See how cutting-edge technology of 3D printing is used in recreational, industrial, and military aircraft and learn the future possibilities of this amazing technology.
- Recommended ages: 13-14 years old.
- Register for July 12-16.
