A top-scoring ace from Texas
The top-scoring ace pilot from Texas to survive World War II, Jay T. Robbins was a graduate of Texas A&M University and received his pilot training at Randolph Field. He flew 181 combat missions over the Southwest Pacific in P-39 and P-38 aircraft and achieved 22 aerial victories against enemy aircraft. After the war, Robbins remained in the Air Force and retired as Lt. General in 1974, having served as Commander of the 12th Air Force, Vice Commander of the Tactical Air Command and Vice Commander of the Military Airlift Command.
