Girls in Aviation Day

Inspiring the Future of Women in Aviation

The Houston Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) has announced a free program offered to local girls ages 10 to 17 years to introduce them to the possibilities available in a career in aviation. The day’s activities will take place at a Lone Star Flight Museum from 10 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2017. 100 girls along with their chaperones are expected to attend. Activites include:

  • Hands on exprience with working aircraft
  • Aviation history scavenger hunt
  • Photo booth in front of vintage aircraft
  • Influential guest speakers:
    • Captain Lynn Rippelmyer (retired) -  first woman to fly a Boeing 747
    • Lt. Amanda Montour, US Coast Guard, Helicopter Pilot
  • General admission to all museum exhibits
