Eyes Above the Horizon

Eyes Above the Horizon is a single day outreach program that aims to develop and foster an interest in aerospace careers through flight introductions, mentorship and immersion into the rich history and legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen. Students are inspired to see beyond their familiar circumstances and find the motivation to excel in their academic and career endeavors.

Event activities include:

  • An orientation flight in a single-engine airplane where students will actually fly an airplane
  • Lunch with motivational keynote speaker Lt. Lashanda Holmes, the first African-American female US Coast Guard helicoptor pilot and former White House Fellow
  • Interaction with civilian, commercial, and military aviation role models
  • Tour of the newly-opened Lone Star Flight Museum, including instruction in the cutting-edge Aviation Learning Center
