❗NEW PLANE OF THE MONTH❗
MS - 500 Criquet has arrived!

The Morane-Saulnier MS-500 Criquet is a French-built version of the Fieseler Fi-56 Storch first produced in Germany in 1935. During the German occupation of France during WWII, Fieseler Storch were built at the Morane-Saulnier factory in Puteaux (just west of Paris) for the Luftwaffe. After the country was liberated in August 1944, Morane-Saulnier continued to build these aircraft for the French military under the name MS-500 Criquet. More than 900 Criquet planes were built before production ended in 1965.

Coming to Lone Star Flight Museum, Fly Girls of World War II

Opening January 29, this exhibit celebrates the women known to history as WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots). Hear these heroic pilots’ personal insights of triumph and perseverance, see original WWII uniforms and memorabilia, and learn how these courageous women changed the face of our military.

Saturday, January 29 at 11 a.m.
LSFM Curator, Eleanor Barton will be giving a Curator Talk on the history of fly girls at Houston Municipal Airport – the training site for the first WASP class. Never-before-seen artifacts from our archives will also be on display.

This National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we'd like to spotlight one of our Flight Crew volunteers - JJ Berry!

JJ was with the Houston Police Department for over 30 years! Joining in 1976, majority of his career was spent on the Traffic Enforcement Division. Highlights included several dignitary escorts, such as presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush, as well as many foreign heads of state.

Berry retired from HPD in 2013, and now enjoys volunteering at Lone Star Flight Museum. "Being around the old warbirds, and enjoying the camaraderie and friendships of fellow volunteers, has been immensely satisfying!"

Thank you JJ, and all of our law enforcement, for everything you do!
